(1,2 MB, 08.04.08,
Final draft): Includes
information ablut JOSMAR and program for the workshop.
The concept
During 4 days in April we gather both amateurs and
professionals, working with mountain medicine, mountain rescue and avalanche
rescue. JOSMAR 2008 gives the delegates the opportunity to attend
high-standard lectures and gather hand-on experience in both fields.
Our aim is to provide the delegates with a deeper understanding for the
challenges in mountain medicine and avalanche rescue, as well as memorable
experiences and social interactions.
The symposium set-up
You must upon registration sign up for either Mountain
Medicine or Avalanche Rescue, as the sessions are presented simultaneously.
At the symposium, however, it is possible to attend the sessions parallel
from your original choice if the other topic is of particular interest.
In order to receive the JOSMAR Avalanche Rescue Course
Certificate, you have to attend all sessions on two successive days
(intermediate and/or advanced level).
Saturday and Sunday are labeled “Intermediate
level”. Although not a novice level, the lectures and the
workshops will the first two days be suitable also for people who are not
very experienced with either Mountain Medicine or Avalanche Rescue. We do
however recommend that delegates have more than basic knowledge for maximum
outcome.
Monday and Tuesday are labeled “Advanced
level”. Before attending these sessions you should have completed
the introductory days, have similar experience or be a professional
health/rescue worker.
The following may be used as a guide for target groups on the
different sessions:
Saturday and Sunday, both sessions:
Mountain guides, teachers in mountaineering, nurses, ambulance personal,
physicians, volunteer and professional rescue workers, interested
mountaineers.
Monday and Tuesday, Mountain Medicine:
Health-, and rescue professionals.
Monday and Tuesday, Avalanche Rescue:
Mountain Guides. Volunteer-and professional rescue workers.
Languages
The main language for JOSMAR 2008 will be English. Some
sessions may be presented in Norwegian, with concurrent English visual
presentation.
The workshops will be
coached in either English or Norwegian, depending on the native language of
the coach.
